General information only
Everything here is general information about mold and indoor moisture in Marion County. It is not an inspection report, an assessment, an engineering opinion, or advice about a specific property.
Health
Nothing on this site is medical advice. Individual responses to mold exposure differ substantially, and questions about symptoms or diagnosis belong to a physician rather than to a remediation contractor.
Climate figures
Annual precipitation, cooling degree days and monthly figures reference the NOAA/NCEI 1991–2020 normals for station USC00086414, Ocala. Comparison figures reference the corresponding normals for stations USW00093805 (Tallahassee), USC00086842 (Panama City), USW00003937 (Lake Charles) and USW00013976 (Lafayette).
Humidity guidance
The recommendation to keep indoor relative humidity below 60 percent and ideally between 30 and 50 percent is the EPA's, as is the statement that wet materials must be dried within 24 to 48 hours to avoid mold growth.
Building code references
References to equipment sizing are to section R403.7 of the Florida Building Code, Energy Conservation, and to ACCA Manuals J and S, described in general terms. Code editions change and adopting jurisdictions may amend provisions. We are not an HVAC contractor and this is not a code compliance opinion about any installation.
Licensing
Florida licenses mold assessors and mold remediators separately under Chapter 468 Part XVI. Verify any company, including this one, on the state's own register rather than relying on a number printed on a vehicle or a website.
Cost figures
Ranges reference regional contractor pricing and are illustrative rather than quotations. The cost of correcting the conditions that produced growth is generally an HVAC contractor's charge and is not included in any figure on this site.
No guarantee of outcome
Removal addresses what is present at the time of the work. Where indoor humidity remains elevated, growth can return. Warranty terms, where offered, appear in the written scope and are the only commitments that apply.
